Our
History
Crystal
Die and Mold, Inc. was founded in 1967 by Franz Müller
and Günther Bantin as a job shop specializing in the
manufacture of injection molds.
In 1970,
Crystal Die and Mold moved to its current location at 905
West Algonquin Road in Algonquin,Illinois. Algonquin is
nestled in the scenic Fox River Valley of McHenry County,
just 45 miles northwest of downtown Chicago and a short
drive to O'Hare International Airport.
In the
early 1970's, CDM expanded into injection molding and developed
a diverse customer base. Dramatic growth necessitated two
building additions to accommodate the increased molding
operation. Under the watchful eyes of founders Müller
and Bantin, manufacturing and operational growth continued
into the 1980's, culminating in the selection of CDM as
a member of Motorola's preferred supplier base, a milestone
in the history of Crystal Die & Mold. Secondary assembly
services and decorating services were added to CDM's operations
in 1987.
Continued
growth created the need for more space, and in the 1990s
two buildings were leased within a short walking distance
of the main plant. These buildings primarily house non-manufacturing
operations such as Design Engineering, Accounting, Shipping
and Receiving, Raw Material and Finished Goods Warehouses,
Human Resources, but also include the entire Secondary Assembly
and Decorating Operations.
Another
important milestone in CDM's history was the successful
achievement of ISO 9001 registration in late 1999. As an
ISO company, we welcome our customers' feedback and take
corrective and preventive measures to ensure continued compliance
with this international standard.
